Impact of Platelet-Rich Plasma on Venous Ulcer Healing

A study by Castro et al., that published in Regenerative Therapy in 2024 showed that the promising role of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRGF) in treating venous ulcers. In a study involving 18 patients, PRGF treatment led to an average reduction of 46.2% in ulcer size and a significant increase in epithelial tissue presence. Despite these positive outcomes, no correlation was found between growth factor concentrations and ulcer size reduction, indicating the need for further investigation into the effectiveness of PRGF in wound healing.
